Is it me or is it the girls that preach self love and body positivity that are the worst about photoshopping their pics? Or maybe it just bothers me more when they do?? Idk.. we all know social media is a trap of comparison and you can’t escape it. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t mind a filter or a preset and I’ve even been known to give myself a tan or whiten my teeth on occasion lol, but idk to me there’s a fine line between brightening a picture and completely changing the shape of your body. I’ve been doing this long enough to spot when someone slims their waist or tries to make their legs appear smaller 👀😣
Honestly it makes me sad. Sad for the girl who feels she has to alter herself for the approval of strangers on the Internet. Sad for her followers who are comparing themselves to this fake image. Sad for all of us trying to survive in this social media age with unrealistic expectations. As great as social media can be, this is one of my least favorite parts about it.
I honestly don’t know how to close this out. I realize that this post isn’t going to really make a change. I can’t stop other people from creating fake realities online and I can’t stop you from comparing yourself to the highlight reels. Heck I don’t think I can even stop myself from doing that, but I guess I just wanted to share this message as a friendly reminder that what you see isn’t always the full picture so give yourself grace and if you find yourself stuck in a toxic mindset because of social media don’t be afraid to take a step back and give yourself a break for however long you need. I love y’all and am always sending the best vibes! The world needs what YOU have to offer!! Keep your head high and most importantly keep being you! 💛☀️🥂
